Romantic or Funny Story: Stuart and I met during his first trip to New York, where he came to work one summer (1997) on a soccer camp. He is from Scotland. I was a camp counselor at the same place where he was a soccer coach. Our eyes met across a crowded cafeteria. We talked and hit it off...the only problem was that he had to return to college in Scotland in September. We had a great summer together, and before he went home, he came to visit me at college for a week and we had a wonderful time. We had a long distance relationship for the next 2 years, while we both finished college. Needless to say, our phone bills were huge! We visited each other a few times and were together all summer (he came back to coach camps during those 2 years). After graduating college, he moved to NY and we have found that it was a lot easier to date when you're in the same country! Then, this summer, six years after the summer that we first met, Stuart proposed while his parents were visiting from Scotland. It was very romantic, and both sets of parents were thrilled. Now we look forward to our wedding in July, when his entire family will be coming from Scotland to celebrate our special day with us. Who ever said long distance relationships don't work!!
